Garda was honored to participate in Les Fleurons Glorieux, a celebration in honor of the brave men and women of our Canadian Armed Forces on their return from service in Afghanistan. The event raised funds to provide care, support and recognition for those who served. A Very Special Fundraiser for the Marie-Clarac Hospital

Helping to raise funds for the construction of a new palliative care unit at Marie-Clarac Hospital in Montreal was a very special effort. “Giving back is very important to Garda,” Marc-Andre Aube, Chief Operating Officer of Garda Security Solutions Canada (far right in photo), told attendees at a fundraising event for the hospital, which surpassed its goal of raising $200,000 by $56,000. “Garda is very supportive of this cause and shares the passion of Sister Pierre Anne Mandato, the General Director of the Hospital, which supported Garda at its beginning by awarding us one of our first contracts.”

Befriending Man’s Best Friends in Need

GardaWorld’s tradition of social engagement in the communities in which it operates extends beyond the medical and humanitarian assistance it provides to people and communities. GardaWorld staff have also rescued several abandoned dogs in Kurdistan and nursed them back to health before placing them in good homes. GardaWorld staff raised funds to secure medical treatment for two dogs, “Sid,” a greyhound found wandering the streets of Erbil with a badly broken leg and “Chuck,” a Kurdish Kangal Mountain dog near death from malnutrition and exposure. Both animals are now strong, healthy and enjoying life in new homes – Sid in Serbia and Chuck in Cyprus.

Annual sales meetings are hectic affairs with jam-packed schedules but the sales team at Garda Cash Logistics took time out to help a worthy cause during their Sales Congress this year. Working in 20 teams with the spirited competitiveness to be expected from top sales professionals, Garda sales representatives and management built bicycles that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami donated to children in the Miami area.

Providing Medical Relief in Kurdistan

For the past nine years, we have supported more than 300 client outreach visits throughout the Kurdistan region of Iraq. As part of our security offering, we provide a contracted medical service capability to project personnel and support communities in isolated areas. Every week our expat medics — accompanied by a local doctor — travel to remote villages on a client’s oil concession to conduct primary care medical treatment and provide supplies. If serious conditions are diagnosed the patients are transported by the GardaWorld ambulance to the nearest city for further treatment. This capability is currently unmatched by any other security services company or organization in the region and offers our client significantly improved relations with the local rural community, which in turn improves project security.

On Thursday, Rookie LPGA player Maude-Aimee, will tee off for her first round at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic Tournament in Mobile, Alabama. The Tournament will be played at the Crossings Course at Magnolia Grove from April 26 – 29 and is a par 72 with 6,521 yards.

We wish Maude the best of luck for her 4^th tournament as an LPGA player.

Today Maude-Aimee will play the second of what we anticipate hopefully four successful rounds at the Lotte Championship held at Kapolei in Oahu, Hawaii. The tournament, played April 18^th – 21^st, with a Saturday finish features 144 players. With a first round score of 74 (+2) Maude-Aimee will tee- off from the 10^th hole at 12:30PM today. She will be paired with Stephanie Louden and Julieta Granada.

On April 16^th and 17^th Garda Cash Logistics was a proud sponsor at the International Economic Forum of the Americas. Speaking at the event were Shaukat Aziz, the Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, who discussed today’s global challenges and opportunities, and Florida Governor Rick Scott.

Governor Scott, who gave the Forum’s keynote address, assured attendees of his ongoing commitment to making Florida the number one state for business.

Garda Cash Logistics President and COO Chris Jamroz concluded the luncheon, thanking Governor Scott, not only for his address, but also for challenging Garda during his second week in office to do more business in Florida.

“Garda took on that challenge,” Chris told the gathering, “and we can safely say that today, in addition to establishing our U.S. Headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida, we have surpassed our three year employment creation target and many of our executives now call Florida home.”

“We are also on track to double the number of head office jobs within the next 12 months,” Chris noted, explaining that, for him, “leadership is the courage of convictions, the commitment to stay on the set course, following your fundamental beliefs and remaining loyal to one’s core values – but above all – it’s about focus and execution as well as the ability to inspire those around you.”

Keeping the Successful 2012 ICCOS Conference Secure

Under the watchful eyes of Garda Security Officers, the 2012 International Commercial Cash Operations Seminar (ICCOS) at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami hosted its largest event ever with a total of 278 delegates from 40 countries. As the Security Partner for the Conference, Garda provided overall security throughout the conference four-day event, which promotes best practices for commercial cash handling and currency management.

Representing Garda Cash Logistics, senior executives Bruce Kayal, Jeralyn Kendall, Steve Collins, Malcolm Stokes and Michael McSpadden greeted attendees at the Garda booth and discussed our comprehensive cash logistics and management solutions. During Garda’s Breakout Session Bruce and Jeralyn spoke about the benefits of virtual vaults with minimal investment. Garda President and CEO Stephan Cretier announced today the launch of its new GardaWorld Risk Management and Consulting European office in Brussels Belgium. Hosted by Mr. Armand De Decker, Vice President of the Belgium Senate, the event welcomed distinguished representatives from several countries.

“With the growth we’ve experienced in our emerging markets and our recent contract wins, it became clear that we needed a solid team to cover our continental Europe plans,” said Stephan Cretier. “Our Brussels office will focus on expanding our business relationship with key clients, including the European Union where we were among five providers to be awarded a $400 million contract over four years to service various diplomatic security missions around the world,” added GardaWorld President Oliver Westmacott.

Didier Ranchon, a veteran of French diplomatic security, has been appointed Managing Director of the new office. Mr. Ranchon joins GardaWorld from a leading French consulting firm where he was General Manager for the Group’s representation to the European community and international institutions and Vice President in charge of European, Middle East and Benelux operations, institutional security, tourism security and institutional support.

Mr. Ranchon began his career as a police officer and later Police Superintendent and Head of the Training Office with the French Ministry of the Interior. He then served as Deputy Police Attaché and Head of the Unit Emergency Response and Tracking Centre for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his career, he has served in Africa, India, Indonesia, the Middle East, South America, the United States and Haiti. A graduate of the University of Paris XII, Faculty of Law and Geography and the French National Police Academy, Mr. Ranchon holds a Master in Risk Management from Centre d’Études Diplomatiques et Stratégiques at the Political Studies Institute in Paris. He is a member of the French National Civil Protection Federation, the United Nations World Tourism Organization and a lecturer in International Law for Expatriate Protection at several universities.
